Outing Club puts on Mudfest 2008

Last Saturday, CUOC celebrated good weather by hosting mudfest. Top: Students play Twister on a climbing wall. Bottom: Walking across a slackline outside of Cheel.

Saturday, Outing Club held its first-ever Mudfest, which lacked mud, but did not lack enthusiasm or good weather. As almost a response to Springfest, 91.1 WTSC proposed that CUOC hold several laid back activities and competitions on Cheel lawn during the day.… Post the First Comment

Springfest 2008

Big D and the Kids Table as an opening band drew mixed reviews; personally, I enjoyed their mix of genres offered up. "I've seen a lot of great opening bands, and this wasn't one of them," said Will Kinsman, a freshman. I happen to think they did well to engage the crowd and warm up the audience's moshing and crowd surfing talents.… Post the First Comment

Big innings hurt Knights

Big innings ruined any chance of the Clarkson University Baseball team surprising the University of Rochester on Saturday afternoon, as the Yellowjackets scored six in the fifth inning of game one and eight in the sixth inning of game two to sweep the Liberty League doubleheader 7-1 and 14-5 at Snell Field.… Post the First Comment

Beer: final frontier

Everything you'll ever need to know about beer and some things you won't

Beer: final frontier

Beer bottle caps await bottles at the Straub Brewery, in St. Marys, Pennsylvania, Wednesday, March 26, 2008. The caps above represent the journey into the world of Beer that Ben (and his liver) have taken to share the best and worst of the beer world with the Clarkson community.

Here is an assortment of random knowledge and opinions on beers that I've accumulated over the course of the year. By far the best source of information for beer styles and beer reviews is BeerAdvocate.com. You have to sign up to use the site, but the amount of information is amazing.… 2 Comments

Saturday's Roast

Last Saturday, Sigma Chi put on their annual Pig Roast. The atmosphere was friendly and of course the food was excellent. The live music at the roast was also a great start to getting ready to head over to Springfest to listen to Dropkick Murphys.

Charity bar crawl

Letter to the Editor

This past Friday evening, April 18, Clarkson's senior students participated in a charity bar crawl through the village of Potsdam: beginning at Maxfields, followed by a stroll to the Cactus Grill and Cantina, and eventually to Backstreets. I must say, throughout this evening, I was ashamed to be a member of the Clarkson Community.… 8 Comments
