The Women's soccer team of Clarkson University ended their four game losing streak Saturday evening thanks to a goal by sophomore Alicia Chase with just under six minutes to play in regulation. With a 5:00pm start time that pitted the Clarkson women against the Cardinals of St. John Fisher, Clarkson was looking to get back on track before coming home for a three game homestand as well as a season-ending three game Liberty League schedule.

Junior Jinna Stugart got the Knights on the scoreboard first with her second goal of the season. Stugart found herself all alone in front of an open goal at the 43:03 mark. St. John Fisher was able to tally two quick goals, just over three minutes apart from each other. Kelly Zeppetella evened the score at 1-1 for the Cardinals at the 62:08 mark after beating a defender of the left side. The goal was Zeppetella's fourth of the season. St. John Fisher struck for the second time at the 65:35 mark when Alyssa MacLachlan was able to give the Cardinals the lead at 2-1 with her first goal of the season. With time running out and the women facing their fifth loss in as many games, sophomore Catie Reed sent a corner kick into the box where Chase was waiting to put home her first goal of the season. The remaining minutes of regulation saw no shots as time expired with the score still knotted at two goals for each team.

Two ten minute overtime periods passed with no goals scored and Clarkson and the Cardinals settled for a 2-2 tie. The overtime periods saw five shots from the Knights and just one from St. John Fisher. Senior Lauren Arredondo played just over 45 minutes in goal for the Knights, recording four saves, while sophomore Meagan Emlaw played the remaining time-almost 65 minutes-making ten saves. Cardinal keeper Stacey Gable collected six saves in preserving the tie for St. John Fisher as they are 3-0-2 in their last five games. The Lady Knights return home to face Cazenovia College Tuesday before a big Liberty League weekend against Union College and Skidmore College on Friday and Saturday, respectively.
