Press Release
The multi-dimensional effort began on September 5 with a collection in Cheel, moved to a door-to-door collection of the faculty and staff, and culminated with the Charity Concert on October 21.
Proceeds will be distributed as follows: $500 to the Red Cross, $351.67 to continue support of students at Clarkson who are from the hurricane-affected area, and $1,190 to the Oprah Winfrey Angel Network Katrina Home Registry to purchase a complete children's bedroom outfit consisting of a twin bed set, dresser, bedding, mirror, two night stands, and two lamps.
Grateful thanks are expressed to the many members of the Clarkson and Potsdam community who donated funds and giveaways, and time and energy which were offered free of charge.
Thanks also to the several clubs, organizations and professional societies that stepped forward to participate in this service-to-the-greater-community effort. These include SPECTRUM (Shaping Possibilities and Embracing Change to Reach a United Mission), InterVarsity (IV), National Society of Black Engineers (NSBE), Multicultural Students United (MSU), Society of Hispanic Professional Engineers (SHPE), East Meets West (EMW), International Students Organization (ISO), Phi Sigma Sigma, Phi Theta Kappa, Phi Delta Epsilon, Student Athletic Advisory Council (SAAC), Physical Therapy Club, Circle K, Alpha Phi Omega, Alpha Kappa Psi, Psi Chi, Honors, Tri Beta, and Clarkson Union Board (CUB).
