On October 11, the brothers of Sigma Phi Epsilon Fraternity spent a Tuesday night helping collect cans for Binghamton C.H.O.W., who distributes food to the needy and had recently run short on supplies. The volunteers asked for various donations on campus and were able to acquire approximately $350 worth of canned and non-perishable foods. On October 15th, five brothers-Andrew Cahill, Erik Subik, Tim Allen, Scott Lewis and Ryan Stephens- personally delivered the food to Catholic Charities, which is supplemented by Binghamton C.H.O.W. After the delivery was made, Doris Leskovich, one of the volunteers at Catholic Charities, was very surprised and thanked Sigma Phi Epsilon for their charitable efforts.

Binghamton's Community Hunger Outreach Warehouse (C.H.O.W.) Program accepts local food donations and redistributes them to the homeless and less fortunate. Unfortunately for C.H.O.W., the local community had recently been sending the majority of their donations to the Gulf Coast to help with disaster relief and demand for food is unusually high for this time of year in Binghamton. Typically, the program has a few weeks worth of food stocked up; however, now they only have a few days inventory remaining and are in danger of having to close some of their 26 pantries. Sigma Phi Epsilon International Fraternity was founded November 1, 1901, at the University of Richmond in Virginia, and has over 260 chapters throughout the United States and Canada. The Clarkson NY Chi chapter was chartered on April 6, 2001.
