Union senior Wade Cheatam notched two goals on the day, and the Dutchmen never looked back, marching on to the Liberty League regular season title with a 6-0 victory. Union out shot the Golden Knights 21-4, leaving Clarkson to focus on Saturday's match against Skidmore, which will most likely decide who grabs the fourth and final playoff spot in the Liberty League.
Cheatam started the scoring at the 14:53 mark and added his second goal of the game less than a minute later. Mark Susko assisted on Cheatam's first tally, while Chris Poey had the second honor after his initial shot was blocked on the goal line by the Clarkson defense. Poey, however, would strike in the thirty-fourth minute with his thirteenth goal of the season as the Dutchmen went up 3-0. With the score already 3-0 at the half, the Knights looked as though they were already focusing on Saturday's Skidmore match.
Union added another three goals in the second half to complete their scoring on the day. Casey Ftorek picked up his third assist on the day in the fifty-third minute when he found Susko in the box for a diving header, his first goal of the season. Ftorek scored quickly in the fifty-fouth minute, and Jon Bellock capped the scoring in the seventy-fourth minute. Rob Kramer started in goal for the Dutchmen and played only twenty minutes, giving way to Rob Shirley who would then be relieved for the final eight minutes by Harris Fendell. Junior David Hennessey made the start in goal along with three saves but played just the first half, as the game was well out of reach by halftime. Freshman Mike St. Croix logged all forty-five minutes of the second half and recorded one save. Union also led in the telling stat of corner kicks, ten to zero.
