The Clarkson University women's soccer team has a tough three game Liberty League stretch to close out their season. Therefore, Tuesday's game against Cazenovia College was much welcomed as they triumphed over the Wildcats 6-0. The home game, originally scheduled to be played at Clarkson Field, was moved to the grass field at SUNY Potsdam due to the weeklong, wet conditions that have left the Clarkson game field in poor condition. Potsdam's field, however, was not much better, as the grass length was not maintained, slowing down the pace of the game at times.

The Lady Knights dominated play throughout the game and it started right away. Just 3:17 into the game, sophomore Catie Reed tallied her team-high sixth goal of the season when she put home a deflected shot for a 1-0 lead. Less than eight minutes later Clarkson struck again, this time junior Katelyn Wagner doing the damage 11:05 into the game. Classmate Jinna Stugart put a ball into the box where Wagner was able to collect it and put it past the diving Cazenovia keeper, Kaila Buffis. Clarkson had a few more opportunities, a point blank shot by freshman Deana Huntley and a blast from the top of the box by sophomore Alicia Chase that sailed just over the goal but were unable to exploit them. Despite dominating play, the Knights led by a score of just 2-0 at the half.

Unfortunately for the Wildcats, the Knights started their second half scoring just as early as the first half. Just 2:54 into the second half, senior Kristin Lorence got her cross back from Wagner and easily placed a close shot into the back of the net, increasing the Knights' advantage to 3-0. This sent them on their way to their best offensive performance of the season. Minutes later the Knights were on the scoreboard again. This time, Reed assisted on the goal when she sent her corner kick from the left side into the box of the Wildcats. Senior Wendy Spindler made a run and went through the defense untouched, putting the ball into the left corner for her first goal of the season. Play settled down as the Knights were not able to score for another fourteen minutes as Wagner sent a shot just over the goal in between scores. When the Knights did put their fifth goal on the board, it was Wagner once again, her second of the match. Huntley sent a cross into the box and Cazenovia was unable to clear the ball, a developing trend throughout the game. Wagner was there to capitalize on the Wildcats' mistake, putting it past a helpless Buffis, who was bombarded with twenty-nine shots on the day. She recorded fifteen saves before it was all over. Another eleven minutes passed before freshman Jill Collins was able to net her fourth goal of the season to cap the scoring for the Lady Knights. Fellow freshman Cait Markes put a cross from the left side into the box where Collins volleyed the shot into the lower left corner. The final minutes of the game elapsed without any further damage and the Knights finished victorious at their home away from home.

With the win, Clarkson moved to 5-8-1 on the season while dropping Cazenovia to 4-8-1.
