On October 17, the brothers of Beta Tau participated in the sixth annual First Frost AIDS Walk located in Watertown, NY. During the weeks prior to the event, brothers took turns at a table located in Cheel and were able to raise over $700, the highest by any college group. Although Beta Tau lost their recognition from Clarkson in 2000, due to a lull in membership, the brothers still provide a good deal of service to the community. The brothers wish to thank everyone who supported this great cause.

The First Frost AIDS Walk is held each year in Watertown to benefit AIDS Community Resources. This year the walk raised over $20,000.

AIDS Community Resources began in 1983 as a group of concerned citizens. By the end of 1983 that group evolved into the AIDS Task Force of Central New York (ATFCNY) and focused on responding to the acute emergency needs of those infected with Acquired Immune Deficiency Syndrome (AIDS). In 1984 the ATFCNY began a long-term partnership with the New York State Department of Health AIDS Institute. Funding received from the AIDS Institute provided the organization, then staffed by a project director and a part-time secretary, with a more permanent presence to help assist those who were seriously debilitated by and dying from AIDS. In 1991, the ATFCNY received federal funding to establish its first two satellite offices in Jefferson and St. Lawrence Counties. Then, in 1994, the AIDS Task Force of Central New York changed its name to AIDS

Community Resources.

AIDS Community Resources is located in Watertown at 165 Mechanic Street and in Canton at 9 Miner Street. These offices provide prevention and education services to the members who are infected with and affected by HIV/AIDS. ACR has four other offices, which provide services to the Central and Mohawk Valley regions of New York State.
