ten teams Providence, Harvard and Dartmouth, the Clarkson University women's hockey team was looking for another one Friday night against eighth-ranked Princeton University. The Golden Knights came in at number nine in the nation while boasting a six game winning streak and not losing in eight games. Princeton, however, was too much for the Lady Knights as the Tigers scored two goals just sixty-four seconds apart en route to a 2-1 victory.
The game remained scoreless after a period of play and it was in the second period when Princeton got on the scoreboard with a power-play goal by Laura Watt, assisted by Annie Greenwood and Kim Pearce. In the third period, just over a minute after Watt's goal, Pearce put her third tally of the season home, unassisted, for a 2-0 lead that Princeton would not relinquish.
The Golden Knights gave it their best shot with an unassisted, short-handed goal by junior captain Lindsay Williams with 15:24 to skate but could muster no more. Clarkson called a timeout with just thirty-three seconds in the game but it was to no avail as they were unable to find the equalizing goal that they needed.
Clarkson now stands at 9-3-1 overall with a 4-1-0 record in the ECAC. The Lady Knights will look to rebound tomorrow afternoon against new ECAC member Quinnipiac University at 2:00pm. The Bobcats will be coming off a loss of their own, a 5-1 defeat at the hands of St. Lawrence University, which dropped their record to 4-6-2 overall, 2-3-1 in the ECAC.
