Female Perspective
Though both male chauvinists and feminists are extremely annoying, I have to say that male chauvinists are much worse.
As a female engineering major, the thought of working with a male chauvinist is sickening. Keeping up with the schoolwork is hard enough for anyone regardless of gender, so imagine having to deal with people who assume your abilities are fewer just because you're a woman. This scenario is true for any major, but in a field that has been traditionally dominated by men, and still is, dealing with male chauvinists is more imminent.
True, male chauvinists don't march around Washington D.C. screaming about their lack of rights, but male chauvinists have existed for a much longer time than feminists and have had a greater impact on society.
I am by no means a feminist. I think women have fairly equal rights by law, though we may not be equal in society just yet. However, marching in Washington won't solve this problem anyway. I have had to deal with male chauvinists, though they weren't so extreme as to think women should be left in the home to cook and clean. They are not ideal in the twenty-first century and they are not forward-thinking. Though feminists are annoying most of the time, their fundamental cause is a good one.
Male Perspective
Neither option is a smart idea when it comes to feminism or male chauvinism. It is obvious that either option is an attempt at pursuing an invalid ideology with respect to the relationship between men and women in the United States. However, certain things can be asserted between the two. Male chauvinism and feminism are both human-held beliefs that one gender is better than the other.
Or are they? A male chauvinist is really only a particular kind of chauvinist. Chauvinism exists when someone believes that a particular image is the best, even if it is the human image. For example, humans tend to make aliens they have never seen to look like themselves, which is human chauvinism.
