Issue date: 12/4/06 Section: Features
As many of you may have heard, or seen the banners, or the pink T-shirts, the Clarkson CEO Club sponsored its First Annual Breast Cancer Awareness Month. The club set a high goal for the month of October to raise $10,000 to be donated to the Breast Cancer Research Foundation. The numbers are in, the last check has arrived, and the club is very proud to announce that it has exceeded its goal! A grand total of $10,424 will be donated to support breast cancer research to help find a cure for breast cancer.

In order to raise this much money the CEO club hosted several events throughout the month of October. One of the biggest projects was a pink t-shirt fundraiser. One thousand pink breast cancer awareness t-shirts were made with the generous support of numerous sponsors, whose logos were placed on the back of the shirts. The club was fortunate enough to have the cost of the 1,000 t-shirts donated by the St. Lawrence Radiology Associates and Watertown Breast Imaging. This donation was the biggest of all donations throughout the month and they are very grateful for the generosity of these two organizations; their help made all the difference in raising awareness and funds for a great cause. From the support of other local and university sponsors, $2,300 was raised during this event. Thank you to all the different school departments who sponsored this event (School of Business, School of Arts & Sciences, The Clarkson School, The iE&M, The School of Engineering, The School of Media & Communications, Residence Life and the Career Center) as well as a big thanks to all the local businesses for their support and especially Northern Interiors, the largest business sponsor.

The community and University members who attended the Clarkson Men's Hockey games on October 20 and 21 made the T-shirt campaign/fundraiser an even bigger success. Members of the CEO Club gave a free shirt in exchange of any amount of donation to The Breast Cancer Research Foundation. Between the two nights, 500 hundred out of the 1,000 were distributed to promote awareness and another $2,000 was raised through these efforts. The club was very pleased with the support of all the Clarkson Hockey Fans and would like to thank everyone for those donations-every little bit counts.
