The Women's Hockey team in the past month has gone 3-3 in both non-league and ECAC play. Recently though the Lady Knights have been on a skid losing their last three games to Boston College, Brown University, and Yale University. Their record is now 13-9-2 overall and 5-6-1 in the ECAC. The Golden Knights return to Cheel Arena on Friday, January 19 at 7:00 p.m. to face Union College and the following day they will face RPI at 4:00 p.m.
In the last two games of the semester, the Lady Knights were home against Niagara University and destroyed the Purple Eagles 5-0 on Friday, December 8 and on Saturday defeated them 2-1. In the Friday game, both Genevieve Lavoie and Christine Bailkowski scored two goals and fellow Golden Knight Britney Selina scored a goal as well. In the Saturday afternoon game, Brooke Beazer and teammate Genevieve Lavoie each had a goal, while Niagara had only one player to score for the entire weekend and that was Mary McKinnon with her third goal of the season. Stephanie Hansen was the goalie for both games with fifteen saves in the first game on Friday and twenty-six saves in the second one.
After almost a month off, the Lady Knights returned to the ice on January 5 and played a non-conference game against Northeastern University, which they easily overpowered 5-0. Captain Lindsay Williams scored two goals in the win, while the following Knights scored one goal a piece: Christina Valesente, Ashley Shaidle, and Marie-Jo Gaudet. Stephanie Hansen continued her dominant play with fifteen saves to improve her personal record this season to 10-1-0. The Knights out-shot the Huskies 44-15. The next day though was a different story for the Lady Knights who suffered their first lost of the New Year, losing to Eleventh Ranked Boston College 5-0. Stephanie Hansen suffered her second loss of the season even with having twenty-seven saves for the game. Goalie Molly Schaus had twenty-six saves in the win for Boston College.
This past weekend the Golden Knights returned to ECAC play when they traveled to Brown University and Yale University. However, it was not a successful trip for Clarkson since they lost both games. In the first game of the weekend, the Knights lost to 1-0 to Brown with Kira Hurley returning to play with seventeen saves. The Golden Knights out-shot the Bears 33-17 in the loss. The following day the Knights lost 5-1 against to the Yale Bulldogs. Marie-Jo Gaudet had the only goal for the entire weekend for the Clarkson Golden Knights. Kira Hurley had twenty-eight saves in the loss, while Shivon Zilis had twenty saves for the Yale Bulldogs. The Golden Knights were out shot by the Bulldogs 33-21.
