Send more troops!

President Bush announced this week that he plans to send as many as twenty thousand more troops to Iraq in the near future. That is more than the population of Potsdam when school is in session. The President is pretty much sending a small town to war. Does anyone else see a problem with this grand idea?
I wonder what went through the president's mind before he decided to announce that he was sending more troops. "Well who cares that the country is already pretty pissed off with me about this whole war thing? I'm the President and I wanna keep fighting! I have a mandate from God to do whatever I want because I won the election in 2004 and I rule and everyone else drools!" Yeah, that's probably a pretty accurate account.
Recruitment for the United States Armed Forces is down (anyone surprised?) and the president is only making it worse. "Step right up! Sign up to fight in Iraq!" Um, no thanks.
Also in the news this week, letters were sent to the families of wounded or killed soldiers asking them to return to service. Although it was a mistake and the letters were sent to the wrong group, this was just one more example of how ridiculous the government can be.
I'm counting down the days until we can elect a new president (this time I can actually vote-I wasn't old enough last time) and as of Sunday, January 14, 2007, the tally is 659 days.

Like much of the main stream press and left-wing critics in this country, you're full of criticism for the President at a time of war yet you put forth nothing regarding your own ideas for how to solve the issues in this war against Islamofacism. (Continued…)
