The Men's Hockey team was coming off of a very successful holiday break; winning the Badger Showdown in Wisconsin and beating McGill in an exhibition match up. Friday night, however, the Golden Knights got back to the tough play of the ECAC and were reminded that there is much work left to do this season.

The Green and Gold capitalized early on Colgate's misfortune. Just seventeen seconds into the game, Colgate goalie Mark Dekanich misplayed the puck behind the net, setting up an easy opportunity for junior Steve Zalewski. As the puck floated out and Dekanich fell over along the boards, Zalewski easily converted for his team-high 12th goal of the season.

The action during the second period was even with each team firing seven shots during the frame. With 6:30 to play, junior David Cayer hit the left post square on, nearly posting the Knights to a 2-0 advantage. Sophomore Shea Guthrie nearly netted himself a goal as well but was stunned by a diving save by Dekanich.

Much of the third period passed with both teams putting solid shots on goal to no avail. But with 5:14 remaining in regulation and the outcome looking wrapped up, Colgate finally broke through with a tying tally. Dustin Gillanders centered a pass from deep in the left corner to teammate Jason Williams. Williams' initial redirection on goal was blocked by Leggio but the puck remained in front, ricocheting off of a pair of skates and into the goal.

Overtime came and went with Clarkson tallying five shots and Colgate just one. The tie kept Clarkson's unbeaten streak alive, moving the Knights to 7-0-1 in their last eight games. Clarkson is now 13-5-2 overall and 5-2-1 in ECAC action. The men hosted Cornell Saturday night with hopes of getting a win on the weekend.
