Last Friday night, February 23, CUB brought comedian Ryan Conner to Cheel Commons. Conner is most known for his stand-up on XM comedy radio.
His jokes were pretty good considering how tired he was, having just driven up from New York City. Since his route up here from MapQuest was closed, he stopped into a gas station for directions. The attendent told him to go to Pennsylvania, through "The Land-of-Make-Believe," and pick up I-81 in Scranton. Yes, that is a real place. It's about ninety minutes from Scranton, in New Jersey.
Much of Conner's jokes were related to drug use, such as making fun of drug statistics. Apparently, 95 percent of crack addicts smoke marijuana. "Crack addicts don't do anything, except crack." He also made fun of role-playing games like WoW and Dungeons and Dragons. A co-worker, who is involved with a similar game, told him that he could beat him with a sword even if Conner was armed with a gun. They decided to have a battle to see who was better, even though Conner probably could have found something better to do with his time. Not wanting to hurt him, he grabbed a paintball gun. Obviously, you know who the winner was, and Conner was promoted to a level nine sorcerer.
It is hard to tell people of his jokes in an article. Many of Conner's routines are not publishable in the paper. However, I do recommend that you attend one of his shows. If you would like more information about him, visit his website, www.ryanconnercomedy.com.
