The Clarkson Women's Hockey team headed to Maine this weekend to play two non-ECAC games. Clarkson won both games, as Friday's game ended with a score of 2-0 and Saturday's ended at 1-0.
Clarkson's offense crushed Maine, even though they only scored two goals. They had 51 shots on goal, while the Golden Knights' Eve Grandmont-Berube only had to make 12 saves.
Sophomore Britney Selina made Clarkson's first goal in the second period, with an assist from sophomore Genevieve Lavoie. Selina scored again in the third period for her fifth goal of the season, assisted by freshman Melissa Waldie.
Clarkson had nine power play opportunities but only scored on one, and Maine had one power play during Friday's game.
Saturday's game ended with another victory for Clarkson. The lone goal was scored by Selina, assisted by senior Amanda Dittmer. Selina now leads the team in scoring with six goals and thirteen points. This game was Clarkson's third straight win, and their record is now 7-2-1 overall.
Freshman Laura Dahm tended goal and posted her second shutout and fourth win of her college career. She has allowed only two goals through the four games, and she has a save percentage of 0.966.
The Golden Knights will be home at Cheel Arena for the next two weekends. On Friday at 7:00 p.m. they will host Rensselaer for the first ECAC game of the weekend, and on Saturday at 4:00 they will play Union. The following weekend they will play Mercyhurst on both Friday and Saturday for two non-ECAC games.
Clarkson is currently ranked 7th in the ECAC, but they have only played two ECAC games. They currently have the most overall wins of the teams in the league.
