Once again Harvard Crimson had their way by defeating the Golden Knights in a convincing victory Saturday night in front of 306 fans played at Cheel Arena. The Crimson, led by number 26 Sarah Vaillancourt, were able to prove why their 16-1-0 overall record, and 13-0-0 ECAC record, is good enough to place them at third in the nation.

The game started off slow, allowing Clarkson to outshoot their opposition 10 shots to 4. As the Golden knights were not able to capitalize on these shots on goal in the first period, the Crimson quickly took the game over in the second period earning three goals while out shooting Clarkson 19 to 3. Harvard came into the second period crashing deep into Clarksons defensive zone. Sarah Vaillancourt added to her nationally ranked resume with her 11th score of the season

This game put an end to the Knights 5 game un-beaten streak, putting them at sixth place in the ECAC standings.

Goalkeeper Eve Grandmont-Berube weathered the storm quite well against Harvard's explosive offense, making 29 overall saves, 16 of which were in the second period alone. Grandmont-Berube made athletic saves to minimize her goals against to only three, yet not enough to keep her team within a victories reach.

The game tying goal by defenseman Carlee Eusepi in the 10th minute of the second period allowed Clarkson to tie the game and put an end to Harvard goalkeeper, Christina Kessler, 219:20 minute streak of scoreless domination, which consisted of shutouts against Colgate, Boston College, and St. Lawrence University.

Clarkson's Carlee Eusepi was set up with a tearing slap shot at the point from teammates Kim McKenney and Genevieve Lavoie. This, unfortunately, was the only power play which was successful. The Knights were able to score only once out of 9:45 of total power play time, including a 5 on 3 power play opportunity in the third period.

The 1-1 tie did not last long when Crimson's Deborah Conway and Kate Buesser helped set up a pretty top shelf goal by Randi Griffin in the 13th minute of the second period. To put the game even further out of reach, Sarah Vaillancourt squeezed a clutch pass through to number 17 Sarah Wilson, who ripped a shot into the goal with 2 tenths of a second left in the second period.

Harvard scored all three goals with even players, and went 0-2 on the power play. Great job by the Knights in both: keeping the puck out of the goal against the power play, and keeping penalties to a minimum with only 3:36 of penalty box time.

The Clarkson University women's hockey team will host Colgate and Cornell next Friday and Saturday (January 18, 19) in Cheel Arena, at 7:00p.m. and 4:00p.m., respectively.
