The Clarkson Women's Hockey team gained four ECAC League points over the weekend on their road trip to the New York state capitol region. Both games were shutouts as Clarkson beat Union with six goals on Friday and three goals against RPI on Saturday. Coming into the weekend, Union had yet to win an ECAC game, putting them in last place in the league, and RPI was ranked eighth out of twelve teams. Clarkson was ranked fourth in the league and tenth in the nation coming into the weekend. The Golden Knights moved up to third place in the ECAC with their two wins this weekend.

The Golden Knights first headed to Schenectady to face the Union Dutchwomen on Friday. They wasted little time in tallying their first goal as senior Brooke Beazer found the back of the net at 4:30, with assists awarded to Marie-Jo Gaudet and Genevieve Lavoie. The second goal was scored on a power play by Lavoie, assisted by Melissa Waldie and Britney Selina. Through the first period, Clarkson had 17 shots on goal while Union had none.

In the second period, Kim McKenney and Amanda Dittmer each scored for Clarkson. Lavoie scored again in the third period unassisted, just 28 seconds into the stanza. At 1:41 in the third, Selina scored off an assist from Waldie, giving the Golden Knights their sixth and final goal, and also ending the Dutchwomen's hopes of an ECAC win.

Clarkson had 46 shots on goal while Union only had seven throughout the entire game. Goalie Lauren Dahm posted her fourth shutout and improved her season record to 7-1.

On Saturday the team headed to Troy to face off against the RPI Engineers. Clarkson's first goal came at 6:51 in the first period, scored by sophomore Ashleigh Moorehead assisted by Selina. The goal turned out to be all that the Golden Knights needed to win the game, but Moorhead scored again unassisted at 4:49 in the third.

The Engineers tried to post a goal by leaving their net empty towards the end of the game, but Gaudet scored her team-leading 17th with less than a minute left to play.

Clarkson's Eve Grandmont-Berube tended goal against the Engineers, and she posted her fifth shutout of the season. She made ten saves and improved her season record to 11-4-3.

Next weekend they will face off against St. Lawrence on both Friday and Saturday. On Friday night at 7:00 p.m. they will play in Cheel, and on Saturday at 7:00 p.m. they will head down Rt. 11 to play in Appleton. The rivalry will be intense as St. Lawrence is now ranked second in the league with 24 points, versus Clarkson's third place 19 points.
