CUSA in a Nutshell

Kurt Stimeling, Kelly Chezum and Jerry Gravender all stopped by the January 28 meeting of the CUSA Senate. They discussed the process of accreditation that occurs here on campus.
Every ten years the School of Engineering and the School of Business are compared to a set of criteria and standards in order to gain or keep accreditation. This is an important process because it allows students to earn federal-based aid.
Stimeling, Chezum and Gravender are trying to get help from the students in this process. They would like CUSA to form a group to continuously review the areas that need improvement on campus. When the accreditation process came last time, they asked the university to work on improving the student education outcome and to collect evidence of it. According to President Snyder, the students should be involved with long-range planning here on campus.
In other business, the Senators discussed the topic of laundry. They passed a resolution stating to "approve the recommendation to adopt Resolution 08-01 requesting that a laundry fee be a flat rate within student housing fee starting in the 2009-2010 academic year."
According to a survey given to students in the past year, majority of the students would like the cost of laundry to be included in the housing fee. Most likely, you would still need your card in order to activate the machine and to prevent outsiders from using the facilities.
Also in regards to the student cards, CUSA is working to get academic buildings open at night, possibly by card access.
