It was clear early on that the Knights' speed was going to be problematic for Yale, as the Bulldogs took five penalties in the first period. The power plays allowed Clarkson to dominate the period, out shooting Yale 17-7. The Knights failed to score on any of the chances however, and the period ended scoreless.
The Knights exploded in the second offensively, scoring three goals and providing pressure with several chances. The Knights had a chance to break the scoreless tie forty-four seconds into the period, but the Yale goaltender was able to sprawl and make the save. About a minute later senior center Brooke Beazer had a chance with an open side of the net but rang the shot off the post. The scoreless tie would end at 2:37 into the second as freshman wing Melissa Waldie worked the puck from behind the net to sophomore center Britney Selina, who fired a shot from the right circle that beat the Yale goaltender. Freshman wing Daris Tendler also earned an assist on the play. The goal was Selina's team-leading seventeenth of the season. From then on the Lady Knights never looked back. At 16:37 in the second the Knights capitalized on the Yale bench minor when Waldie was able to deflect the shot from sophomore wing Genevieve Lavoie to the back of the net. Selina also earned an assist on the play, which is her team-leading forty-second of the season.
Clarkson added two goals within a minute in the third, increasing their lead to four. Senior captain Katie Morrison got her third goal of the season when she put the shot from Amanda Dittmer that rebounded off the end boards into the net. Beazer also earned an assist on the play. Seconds later Beazer got her fifth goal of the season, as she was able to deflect the shot from sophomore defenseman Carlee Eusepi to the back of the net. Junior wing Marie-Jo Gaudet also assisted on the play.
Freshman goaltender Eve Grandmont-Berube played brilliantly, making nineteen saves, but her shutout was stolen from her halfway through the third period when a Yale forward was able to intercept a pass in the slot and score. The Knights regained their four goal lead two minutes later as Guadet beat the Yale goaltender for her team leading twentieth goal of the season. Freshman defenseman Courtney Olson assisted on the play.
The Knights out shot Yale 44-20 and scored twice out of their nine power play opportunities. The Knights host Quinnipiac and Princeton for the final week of the season on Friday and Saturday.
