Clarkson University Junior prom
Issue date: 2/25/08 Section: Features
This article appeared in the June 1922 issue of The Clarkson Integrator.
About one hundred and twenty-five couples were in attendance at the annual Junior Prom given by the Class of '22 in the gymnasium, on Friday evening, April 29. The dance had been postponed from February to this date, due to the prevalence of scarlet fever at that time.
The dance proved to be one of the most successful and enjoyable social events of the year. St. Lawrence University was represented by a large number of couples and many were also present from Ogdensburg, Watertown and Syracuse.
The decorations were unusually pleasing, though not elaborate. Maroon and white, the colors of the junior class, were used in the orchestra booth and the electric 1922 sign. Inverted parasols shaded the lights which were supported at intervals around the gymnasium wall. Banners of the college and fraternities completed the decorations of the walls.
Music was furnished by Johnston's orchestra augmented by an extra piano. An appetizing luncheon was served shortly before midnight by Mrs. Jennie C. Ketcham, cateress.
The patronesses of the occasion were Mrs. F. C. Wilson, Mrs. A. R. Powers, Mrs. L. C. Russell, Miss Anna Draime and Mrs. H. G. Thompson.
