Poem of the Week
Walk Softly
Stanley Onyewuchi
Issue date: 2/25/08 Section: Features
Walk softly, softly now
across the creaking stairs
Wake no one softly, softly now
across the creaking stairs
Each step is like
a Beethoven sonata
Beautiful and harsh.
14 I think it was.
Walk softly, softly now, dear one
across the creaking stairs
Wake no one softly, softly now
Here, with the world in our ears
Let me have my final bow
across the creaking stairs
Wake no one softly, softly now
across the creaking stairs
Each step is like
a Beethoven sonata
Beautiful and harsh.
14 I think it was.
Walk softly, softly now, dear one
across the creaking stairs
Wake no one softly, softly now
Here, with the world in our ears
Let me have my final bow
