The Golden Knights headed to Cambridge this weekend to take on an undefeated Harvard team in the ECAC women's semifinal action. Coming off a pair of thrilling wins against Princeton, our Lady Knights felt they could be the first team to knock off the undefeated Crimson. Unfortunately, there would be no Herculean upset this weekend as the Crimson took care of business with a 3-0 victory.
The first period was a battle of team defenses with only seven total shots on goal. The second period continued to the same tune as the first. There was no scoring until just 1:49 remained in the frame and the Crimson finally tallied a goal against the Golden Knight fortress of a defense. Katharine Chute skated into the high slot and fired a wrist shot past Clarkson goalie Grandmont-Berube.
The Crimson padded their lead three minutes into the third period, when Jenny Brine let a shot go from the blue line that was deflected into the net, extending the score to 2-0.
Shortly following their second tally, the Crimson added one more to their lead when Liza Ryabkina moved into the Clarkson zone, eluded a Golden Knight defender, and put the puck between a sprawling Grandmont-Berube's legs.
The score would remain 3-0 in favor of the Crimson with no answer from the Golden Knights. The Knights were eliminated from ECAC championship contention. The Crimson advanced to face St. Lawrence in the ECAC finals
